Our understanding of transparency

We publish results as they are — even when they fall short of what we had hoped for. Research that shows only its best results is not research you can trust. This applies to our scientific work just as much as to the development status of our software: we communicate openly about which phase we are in, what already works and what is still open.

What this means in practice

• We do not present state regulation as “solved” as long as it is not.
• We make no claims about efficacy that are not backed by our own evaluations.
• Where our research reaches its limits, we name those limits.
• Where our software infers states, we prefer transparent, rule-based methods over opaque models — even where that takes more care than a black box. What a system does should be explainable, not merely asserted.

Handling of data

Our research philosophy and our handling of data follow the same principle: collect as little as possible, process as much as possible locally. This website itself currently uses no analytics or marketing cookies. You can find details in the privacy policy.
