Allostatic Labs
Stability is not a state.
It is a process.
Allostatic Labs researches how systems — biological and digital alike — achieve stability through active adaptation, rather than forcing it.
Local. Without exception.
Processing happens on the device — not on a server.
What we build follows a strict principle: processing happens exclusively on the user’s device — not on a server, not in a cloud. There is no transmission of personal behavioural or state data to us or to third parties.
This is not a privacy policy added after the fact — it is an architectural decision made from the start.
- Local-first: processing exclusively on the device
- No server pipeline for behavioural or state data
- No transmission to third parties

What we do
Foundational research at the intersection of neuroscience, behavioural research and software.
Allostatic Labs is an independent research lab based in Bavaria, Germany. We study allostasis – the principle that stability arises not from standing still, but from continuous, active adaptation to changing demands.
From this principle, we develop foundational research and the software built on top of it — software that recognises the state a system – initially the human being – is currently in, and how that state can find its way back into a healthy balance.
Our work deliberately sits at the intersection of neuroscience, behavioural research and software development. We believe that state regulation does not require additional hardware or invasive measurement, but is possible on a purely software-based level.
Research fields
Four core states are at the centre.
Each of these states can be recognised and – in software – actively regulated, rather than merely logged.
Focus
Concentrated, productive attention.
Overload
States in which demands exceed the available resources.
Flow
Effortless, deeply concentrated immersion in an activity.
Depletion
States of reduced capacity after sustained strain.
Current status
Research and development — in parallel.
Allostatic Labs is currently in the research and development phase. There is no public access and no beta version at this time. Science and software development run in parallel — we publish only once both sides are solid.
Who we work with
People in research and related fields.
Our work touches fields such as adaptive state regulation, cognitive stability and software-based behavioural research. We are only just building Allostatic Labs and are not yet in established contact with institutions or partners. If you research or work in a related field, we would be glad to hear from you.
